The Institute of Communications and Navigation, with sites in Oberpfaffenhofen and Neustrelitz, is dedicated to mission-oriented research in selcted areas of communications and navigation. These are embedded in the DLR programmes on space, aviation, transport and security.
What to expect
AI-based signal analysis and signal classification methods are to be researched as part of the activities. Furthermore, swarm-based approaches are to be investigated in which several networked swarm participants jointly perform signal analysis and classification. In addition to theoretical work and the implementation of algorithms in simulation, the researched methods are to be validated in experiments with real data.
Your tasks
- Development of AI-based methods for signal analysis and classification in a robot swarm or distributed network
- Analyzing the developed methods through theoretical evaluation and computer-aided simulation
- Adaptation of the developed methods to the computers used on the experimental platforms and to the real-time capability required in the experiments
- Conception, preparation and realization of experiments in indoor and outdoor environments with software-defined radios on e.g. rovers or flying platforms
- Publication of the results in journals and at conferences
- Supervision of working students, Master/Bachelor students and interns
Your profile
- University degree (Master´s/Diploma) in engineering (e.g. electrical engineering, communications engineering, computer science) or other courses of study relevant to the position with very good overall results
- Expertise in signal processing, radio communication systems and methods of artificial intelligence or the willingness to acquire this expertise in a short period of time
- Basic knowledge of system integration and embedded systems
- Good knowledge of preparing and conducting experimental measurement campaigns to test scientific methods
- Very good programming skills, e.g. in MATLAB, C++, Python
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Remuneration depends on qualifications and job assignment up to pay grad 13 TVöD.
