Would you like to become part of our innovation-driven research team and help shape the future of lightweight system? We, the Institute of Lightweight Systems, develop and test new lightweight construction technologies for resource-saving and climate-friendly structures in the aerospace, transport, energy and security sectors. Our vision is intelligent lightweight system construction for an emission-free tomorrow.
What to expect
At the Innovation Centre for Small Aircraft Technologies in Würselen, DLR is researching technologies for electric flight and solutions for the aviation of tomorrow. In a motivated and young environment, you will help to research a high-rate manufacturing process for fibre composite hollow bodies. The focus is on the simulation of production tools made of shape memory polymers.
Your tasks
- Familiarisation with the existing material and simulation model
- Adaptation and extension of the simulation model
- If necessary, support with tests to determine material characteristics
- Carrying out tests for model validation if necessary
Your profile
- current studies in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, lightweight construction or comparable
- Above-average academic performance
- High motivation and interest in working independently
- Previous experience in the simulation of mechanical systems (preferably ANSYS Mechanical: static-structural)
- Previous knowledge in the field of simulation of visco-elastic and visco-plastic materials
- Previous experience with CAD software (preferably CATIA V5)
We look forward to getting to know you!
