At the DLR Institute of Transportation Systems, we conduct research on technologies for the intermodally connected and automated transportation of the future across road and rail networks. In interdisciplinary teams comprising a total of 250 scientists, we develop innovative operational concepts and methodologies. Our objective is to ensure climate-neutral and sustainable mobility in urban and regional areas.

What to expect

The “Information Systems and Mobility Services” (ISM) department develops methods, tools, and concepts for the human-centered operational organization and development of future technologies within the transport and mobility system.

Successful system implementation requires an integrated consideration of the needs of the people who use transport systems as well as those who operate them, combined with technological possibilities. The human-centered design of information requirements and human-technology interaction, as well as the introduction and implementation of mobility solutions, are central components.

 

Your tasks

  • conduct literature research on topics such as automated driving, acceptance, decision-making, passenger guidance, and the requirements of special user groups in public transport
  • support the planning, preparation, and execution of user studies
  • prepare qualitative and quantitative data for descriptive and inferential statistical analysis
  • assist in data evaluation

 

Your profile

  • currently enrolled in a degree program in Psychology, Human Factors, Gerontology, Accessible Communication, or a related field
  • interest in mobility-related issues
  • enthusiasm for new trends and technologies
  • initial experience in conducting studies involving qualitative and quantitative data collection
  • knowledge in preparing qualitative data and performing statistical analysis of quantitative data using SPSS or R
  • proficiency in MS Office
  • fluent German language skills, both written and spoken
