At the Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures in Bremerhaven, we research and develop innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of maritime infrastructures and make them adaptable, safe and sustainable. In close cooperation with partners from research, industry and other maritime security stakeholders, we combine technological innovation with practical expertise and offer you the opportunity to work on pioneering projects.

 

What to expect

The protection of critical infrastructures is an basis for the prosperity and stability of states and societies. The “Situation Awareness and Cyber Security” group is therefore dedicated to the implementation of innovative security concepts, including the development and research of methods for improving and evaluating the cyber-physical security properties of maritime critical infrastructures. 


Your Tasks

  • Theoretical and practical development of formal methods for modeling and analyzing the security properties of systems as part of maritime infrastructures
  • Cryptography and cryptanalysis
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with other groups (internal and external)
  • Publication of research results in specialist journals and at national and international conferences
  • If applicable, your own scientific qualification as part of a doctorate


Your profile

  • Completed university degree (university diploma or master's degree) in an information processing field (e.g. computer science or IT security), natural sciences (e.g. mathematics) or other courses of study relevant to the position
  • Knowledge of IT security and cryptography and an interest in the subject area
  • Basic knowledge in at least one of the areas of design, analysis and/or modeling of security-critical systems or high-quality systems, formal methods in system design, system development or analysis, compiler construction, model transformation, graph transformation
  • Ability and willingness to work mathematically and formally
  • Knowledge of common programming paradigms and languages as well as software development methods
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken German and English

 

Remuneration is up to the German TVöD 13 depending on qualifications and assigned tasks
