The DLR Institute of Software Technology sees software as a catalyst for research and innovation. The institute's staff, currently numbering around 200, makes a significant contribution to advancements in the fields of aviation, space, energy, transportation, and security through the development of state-of-the-art software solutions and innovative research.
Our areas of competence include reliable and safety-critical software systems, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and quantum computing, human-system interaction and visualisation, software and systems engineering, as well as digital platforms and digital twins.
The Intelligent and Distributed Systems department researches methods to make complex technical processes and systems, from software development to automated workflows and AI-assisted analysis, traceable, automatable, and interactively experimentally accessible. In our team, we work at the intersection of humans and machines (Artificial Intelligence) and develop innovative solutions to address the challenges of digital transformation. As a project manager and research associate, you actively shape the future, for example, of data-driven applications in the fields of aerospace and transportation, and contribute to making data explainable, comprehensible, and interactively usable for various user groups.
Your tasks
- Leading projects for the development of data-driven, interactive applications with a focus on user-centered and comprehensible preparation
- Conception and implementation of innovative interaction and visualization prototypes for web applications
- Iterative design of interaction design with continuous involvement of users (e.g., astronauts, air traffic controllers, mission operators, mobility service operators, municipalities, travelers) in development and evaluation
- Conducting application-oriented research in the field of human-computer interaction and human-AI interaction
- Publication of scientific results in professional journals and presentation at conferences
- Support in acquiring follow-up projects and developing new research concepts
You will work independently on the tasks mentioned and liaise with the other team members and the group leader. We give you the freedom and opportunity to pursue your ideas and drive forward new research topics. We offer a challenging working environment in which family friendliness and your health are our top priority
