The Institute of Communications and Navigation, with sites in Oberpfaffenhofen and Neustrelitz, is dedicated to mission-oriented research in selcted areas of communications and navigation. These are embedded in the DLR programmes on space, aviation, transport and security.

 

What to expect

The „quantum-resistant cryptography“ group within the satellite networks department deals with the development and analysis of cryptographic schemes, that enable secure communication in the age of powerful quantum computers. In particular, we develop and extend code-based cryptosystems, efficient en- and decryption algorithms as well as new methods for cryptanalysis. Join us in shaping the future of quantum-resistant cryptosystems and be responsible for the following topics.
 

Your tasks

  • Analysis of the security of quantum-resistant encryption schemes with regard to quantum-assisted cryptanalytic methods
  • Literature review of existing quantum-resistant encryption schemes
  • Analysis of the security of coding-based encryption schemes using various metrics, such as the Lee metric, the sum-rank metric or the skew metric
  • Analysis of the security of lattice-based encryption schemes
  • Publication of results in scientific journals and at international conferences

 

Your profile

  • University degree (Master’s / Diploma) in engineering (e.g. electrical engineering, information technology, telecommunications) or natural sciences (e.g. mathematics) or other relevant fields of study, with a minimum grade of ‘good’
  • Relevant professional experience, possibly with a PhD in one of these fields
  • Excellent knowledge and extensive professional experience in the field of communications engineering or cryptography
  • Excellent knowledge and extensive experience in the field of channel coding, particularly regarding general and alternative decoding metrics, such as the sum-rank metric
  • Excellent knowledge in the field of cryptography or quantum-resistant cryptography, as well as the underlying mathematical concepts, such as rings or finite fields
  • Excellent knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python/SageMath

 

Remuneration depends on qualifications and job assignment up to pay grad 14 TVöD.
