The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics develops robots that enable people to interact with the environment more efficiently, effectively and safely. The robots are designed to work in environments that are inaccessible or dangerous for humans, but also to support and relieve people at work and in everyday life.
What to expect
In the Embedded and Distributed Systems group of the Department of Autonomy and Teleoperation, you will develop parts of the control software that is essential for the operation of the robot. This robot control system will be used in a space project on on-orbit servicing in the coming years.
Your tasks
- Collaboration in the design and development of the robot controller for the operation of a robot in space
- Documentation of software architecture as well as module, integration and system tests of the developed software modules while ensuring compliance with the ECSS space standard for software development
- Participation in project meetings with the project partners
- Publication of the results in relevant specialist journals and conferences
Your profil
- a university degree (Master's degree / university diploma) in engineering (e.g. in the field of robotics, electrical engineering), computer science or other degree programmes relevant to the job
- In-depth expertise in software engineering like versioning, code review, unit/integration testing, real-time operating systems and embedded systems
- In-depth knowledge of software development and programming in C and C++
- Programming skills in Python
- Knowledge of agile software development, e.g. SCRUM
- Knowledge of continuous integration tools, e.g. Jenkins and Artifactory
- Very good written and spoken English skills
Remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TVöD depending on qualifications and tasks assigned.
