What to expect

The DLR Quantumcomputing-Initiative is a coordinated funding effort of the DLR in the field of the development and use of quantum computers. Based on several years of basic research, prototype quantum computers and applications based on them are now being developed within the project as part of a federal government initiative. DLR is building a consortium of industrial companies and research partners to realise the construction of the quantum computers.

At the Innovation Centre Hamburg ion trap-based quantum computers are being developed by industry contractors and with the support of the DLR. The Institute for Quantumtechnologies (QT) with the department Integration Micro- and Nanosystems operates a cleanroom laboratory for this purpose on behalf of the DLR Quantumcomputing-Initiative. In addition to providing the equipment and processes, the focus is on quality assurance measures and industry user support. The micro- and nanotechnology process chain includes all necessary steps from the wafer substrate to the assembled module of chip scale surface traps for ions.

Become part of our team that is expanding the technology development and cleanroom processes for the production of ion traps as part of the DLR Quantumcomputing-Initiative and providing significant support to the QC-I companies in the development of the next generation of quantum computers.
