The DLR Institute of Solar Research is conducting research into the technical and economic optimisation of solar thermal energy generation at four different locations in Germany and southern Spain. The research and development activities are always application-orientated and industry-oriented.
What to expect
In the Solar Power Plant Technology department, solar thermal power plants are developed further. One goal is the continuous automation of operating processes in order to generate thermal energy more efficiently, reliably and cost-effectively. In the future, intelligent agents will support human operating and maintenance personnel, carry out process steps independently and contribute to an overall increase in the degree of automation in solar thermal power plants.
Your tasks
During the thesis, the goal is to develop an autonomous software agent for planning operating days at solar power plants. The task of the thesis includes
- Concept and implementation of a self-sufficient software agent
- Development of algorithms for planning operating days based on environmental conditions, power plant states and/or operational planning data
- Integration of the software agent with other intelligent agents, human actors and the system infrastructure of a solar thermal power plant
- Test and demonstration of the software agent in a real solar thermal research plant in Jülich
Your profile
- Degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, electrical engineering, automation technology or related degree programmes
- Programming skills in Python, Java or another object-oriented programming language
- First practical experience with the development of software projects
- Knowledge of operating applications using container technology desirable
- Initiative and enjoy working independently
We look forward to getting to know you!
