At the Institute of Data Science in Jena, we are working on the data backbone for all DLR application areas (aviation, space, energy, transportation, security). To this end, we develop and research methods in interdisciplinary work with a focus on applications such as sustainable and circular processes, resilient supply chains, data-driven value chains or robust decision support. The methods developed in this way are applied in cooperation with other DLR institutes and external partners, either as part of joint projects or as part of technology transfer activities.
What to expect
We offer you the opportunity to complete a thesis, a compulsory internship or a student job in the areas of semantic process and data description and (meta-)data management. As part of an international team, you will develop methods and software solutions for data management systems of tomorrow. You will analyse and develop your own methods, software, or models with a focus on improving data management in scientific or industrial use cases as part of projects like ASPIRO, Aerospace-X, COOPERANTS und MaTiC-M. Possible topics range from the (further) development of metadata models to the automated collection or preparation of metadata, quality assurance and the utilisation of semantic information in web-based user interfaces.

- Analysing basic requirements for scientific or industrial use cases
- Knowledge modelling to improve the collection and description of scientific data
- Software implementation of own or predefined methods
- Analysing and evaluating the results
- Testing and documentation of the work
Your profile
