Enter the fascinating world of the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e. V.; DLR) and help shape the future through research and innovation! We offer an exciting and inspiring working environment driven by the expertise and curiosity of our 11,000 employees from 100 nations and our unique infrastructure. Together, we develop sustainable technologies and thus contribute to finding solutions to global challenges. Would you like to join us in addressing this major future challenge? Then this is your place!

At the Institute of Data Science in Jena, we are working on making the data backbone a reality for all DLR application areas (aviation, space, energy, transportation, security). To this end, we develop and research methods in interdisciplinary work with a focus on applications such as sustainable and circular processes, resilient supply chains, data-driven value chains or robust decision support. The methods developed in this way are applied in cooperation with other DLR institutes and external partners, either as part of joint projects or as part of technology transfer activities.

What to expect

The research and development work of the department Data Acquisition and Mobilisation aims to provide high-quality data for industry and science. This forms the basis for achieving sustainable interdisciplinary value chains and for data-driven decision support in complex systems. The key challenges here are usability, availability and access.

As part of your work, the legal conditions of web scraping are to be analyzed scientifically on the basis of selected online sources. In close coordination with the DLR legal department, an initial foundation has already been laid, which will be deepened and expanded in the further course of the project. The focus is particularly on the legal risks associated with the use of web scraping.

Your tasks

Examination of legal conditions related to:

  • legal framework conditions in relation to the collection, local storage and internal use of the data
  • passing on the data and derived products as part of further scientific activities (e.g. to external project partners or via data publication)
  • transfer and publication of developed methods for generating data products in the form of software

Your profile

  • ongoing law studies (at least 4 successfully completed semesters)
  • ideally experience in copyright and data protection law
  • quick comprehension with a goal-oriented and independent way of working
  • very good knowledge of German and English

We offer

DLR stands for diversity, appreciation and equality for all people. We promote independent work and the individual development of our employees both personally and professionally. To this end, we offer numerous training and development opportunities. Equal opportunities are of particular importance to us, which is why we want to increase the proportion of women in science and management in particular. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preference if they are qualified.

We look forward to getting to know you!
