The DLR Institute of Software Technology sees software as a catalyst for research and innovation. The institute's staff, currently numbering around 200, makes a significant contribution to advancements in the fields of aviation, space, energy, transportation, and security through the development of state-of-the-art software solutions and innovative research.
Our areas of competence include reliable and safety-critical software systems, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and quantum computing, human-system interaction and visualisation, software and systems engineering, as well as digital platforms and digital twins.
What to expect
The Intelligent and Distributed Systems department researches methods to make complex technical processes and systems, from software development to automated workflows and AI-assisted analysis, traceable, automatable, and interactively experimentally accessible.
For efficient, user-friendly, and context-sensitive interaction between humans and AI systems, you will develop intelligent User Interfaces that dynamically adapt information and feedback to diverse user needs and contexts. This includes, for example, the implementation of data-driven models that create dynamic user profiles based on sensor, behavioural, and contextual data as well as user inputs.
Development considers the challenges of heterogeneous data sources, real-time data processing, and scalability across various application scenarios. A particular focus lies on developing intelligent interfaces using novel technologies, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), interactive machine learning, and dialogue-based systems, that support complex decisions clearly and understandably and ensure meaningful user involvement.
Your tasks
-
design and implementation of adaptive AI-supported interfaces for aerospace applications
-
development and training of ML models for dynamic user modeling using TensorFlow/PyTorch and implementation of algorithms for continuous system adaptation
-
integration of heterogeneous data sources and real-time analysis of sensor, behavioral, and contextual data to improve human-AI interaction
-
