The DLR Institute of Future Fuels is helping to make renewable resources available in order to replace fossil resources. We develop solutions for how hydrogen and fuels can be produced cost-effectively on an industrial scale from water, CO2 and nitrogen using renewable energies.
The position has been established to expand scientific knowledge in the field of solar-thermochemical processes for the production of renewable energy carriers. This is exploratory research in which innovative reactor concepts are experimentally tested and characterized in test stands.
What to expect
- Planning new research projects including the conceptual preparation
for the development of new processes for renewable fuel production
- Support and coordination of design, material selection, procurement and
construction of new test rigs (in the laboratory, mini-plant and pilot scale)
- Experimental testing of test setups for renewable fuel production
(with a focus on solar thermochemical processes)
- Scientific development of validated component and plant models (heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics)
- Systematic evaluation and analysis of experimental results
- Preparation of the results for presentations and scientific publications
- Publication of the work results in the form of scientific articles
Your profile
- Completed scientific university degree (Master / Diploma Uni) in natural sciences
(e.g. physics, chemistry) or engineering (e.g. in the fields of process engineering, mechanical engineering)
or other courses of study relevant to the job. Preferably with a PhD.
- Research experience and expertise in the field of conceptual design, design,
construction, commissioning and operation of experimental setups (up to pilot scale)
- Specialist knowledge in the field of gas analysis, sensor technology, heat transport calculations,
high-temperature processes/materials, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and physical chemistry
- Experience in design calculations and initial experience in the field of vacuum technology
- Expertise in renewable energy sources and concentrating solar technology
- Experience in the use of tools and languages such as: ANSYS, Autodesk Inventor, Modelica, Python
- Very good verbal and written communication skills in German and English
Remuneration is up to the German TVöD 13 depending on qualifications and assigned tasks.
