The Institute of Remote Sensing Technology conducts research and development in the field of remote sensing technologies. We develop algorithms and methods to configure software processors that extract relevant geo-information from remote sensing data. Automated processors are the prerequisite for optimising the use of modern sensor systems for science and applications. The processors are integrated into payload ground segments of DFD and industry for national and international earth observation missions.
What to expect
Within the EU Copernicus Sentinel-5, Sentinel-4 and Sentinel-5 Precursor missions, the department ‘Atmospheric Processors’ plays a leading role in the development of processor systems and algorithms for the precise determination of atmospheric trace gases such as ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, formaldehyde, glyoxal as well as aerosol and cloud properties. These algorithms are used in operational near-real-time and offline processing environments. The work is carried out in close co-operation with national and international partners.
