The Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at DLR has more than 200 employees conducting research in the field of efficient and resource-saving energy storage and energy converters
What to expect
Fossil decarbonization strategies for aviation and carbon intensive industries, especially with regards to fossil fuels, are essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. In order to assesses the technical, economic and environmental viability of potential alternatives, a tool has been developed to simplify performing Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of their production processes. The tool utilizes thorough process simulation data as a basis and enables the user to conduct parameter studies to provide guidance to technology developers how they can improve the technical, economic and environmental performance of their processes.
Your Tasks
- During your internship in our team you would help us create an intuitive and user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) for our Python-based TEA and LCA tool.
- You would be responsible for designing and implementing the GUI using Streamlit.
- Your work will directly impact how users interact with our software, making it more accessible through interactive visualizations and dashboards for linking new and adjusting existing data as well as analyzing results.
- You will collaborate closely with data scientists and engineers to understand user requirements and translate them into functional and visually appealing GUI components.
Your profile
- student in process engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Experience in GUI development, preferably with Streamlit or similar frameworks
- good knowledge of Python programming with a focus on data visualization and user interface design
- understanding of TEA and LCA concepts is a plus, but not required
- excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- good communication and presentation skills
We look forward to getting to know you!
