The Institute of Vehicle Concepts (FK) of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is internationally recognised for the design of future road and rail vehicles that enable climate and environmentally friendly mobility while being affordable and user-friendly at the same time. We research and demonstrate the required key technologies  and maintain close cooperation with other scientific institutions as well as industrial and political bodies.

 

What to expect
Support from infrastructure sensors is an important measure to ensure the safety of autonomous vehicles in urban areas. Finding suitable positions for infrastructure sensors is a complex problem with numerous influencing factors. In order to do justice to these, DLR has developed a methodology that automates this search and also considers existing infrastructure such as street lighting and traffic lights. Your task is to further develop this algorithm and apply it to various neighborhoods in German cities.


Your tasks

  • optimization and improvement of software for the placement of infrastructure sensors
  • application to various neighborhoods in Germany
  • investigation of the influence of various requirements on the sensor technology
  • assessment of the potential of using existing infrastructure

 

Your profile

  • ongoing scientific university studies in the field of software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or similar
  • coding experience with Python
  • initial experience working with GIS data
  • independent and structured way of working
