DLR's Responsive Space Cluster Competence Competence Centre (RSC³) in Trauen is a unique research facility in Germany that addresses in a holistic way the topic of Responsive Space. This exciting field of research deals with the question of how to respond faster, more flexibly and securely in space with the goal of increasing the overall resilience of critical infrastructures in space. To this end, innovative concepts and technologies are analyzed, developed and demonstrated at the RSC³.
What to expect
The Space Segment (WSM) specializes in satellite platforms and payloads, system engineering and the integration of missions as well as concept of space architecture. The team works in an interdisciplinary manner on the planning and realization of several satellite missions and contributes to innovative studies and research activities.

Your tasks
-
analyzing and developing new concepts for RF signal acquisition on small satellites
-
analyzing and developing new concepts for integrating payloads into available satellite platforms (in particular for electronic and software integration)

definition, description and analysis of standards, interfaces and protocols
-
development of new solutions for the (electronic and software) rapid-response integration of satellites and implementation of scientific testing of the concepts as part of technology testing missions.

conducting scientific concept and technology studies on space-based payloads and networked space systems
Your profile
-
Master's degree / university diploma in engineering (e.g. in the fields of aerospace engineering, telecommunications technology or information technology) or other degree programmes relevant to the position; doctorate desirable
-
knowledge in the field of communication systems (e.g. in relation to satellite systems), especially knowledge of (terrestrial) RF signal sources and their classification and the design of antennas and programming of software defined radios (SDR)

confident handling of system programming languages (e.g. C/C++), as well as sound knowledge in the development of software for satellite subsystems, as well as experience in the development and handling of server applications (e.g. Deamons, containers)
- ability to work in a team, initiative, independence and solution-orientated thinking

very good written and spoken English. Knowledge of German desirable

good overview of national, European and international research activities on telecommunications systems and their application to satellite systems and ground stations as well as security related requirements
Remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TVöD depending on qualifications and tasks assigned.
