At the DLR Institute for AI Security, we research and develop AI-related methods, processes, algorithms, technologies and execution and system environments. Our focus is on secure and standard-compliant AI, cybersecurity in open data and service ecosystems and AI, as well as automation in mobility and logistics.
What to expect
The AI Engineering department defines and establishes systematic and goal-orientated development processes, methods and tools for safe and secure AI-based applications. The focus is on the development and application of safety and security-by-design methods for AI-based components and the investigation of safe human-AI interaction, taking into account the degree of automation and cooperation.
Your tasks
- Development of virtual reality and hybrid reality simulation environments (e.g. with Unreal Engine)
- Targeted generation of data and test environments that are generated by humans in combination with the AI system and are suitable for training/testing AI systems
- Development of AI models in hybrid reality simulation Environments
- Development of a scientifically sound system for the comparative evaluation of current human-AI interaction approaches
- Application of human factors methods to demonstrate the effectiveness of involving humans in the AI learning cycle
- Hands-on collaboration on the development of demonstrators and the associated processes
Your profile
- Completed university degree in computer science, psychology (human factors) or engineering (e.g. electrical engineering, mechanical engineering) or other degree programs relevant to the position
- Expertise in the field of artificial intelligence in autonomous systems
- Expertise in the programming of simulation and laboratory tools (VR, HR)
- Programming skills in Python and knowledge in the field of robotic systems
- Experience in various areas of human-machine interaction, human factors, ideally in the fields of aviation, robotics or autonomous driving
- Knowledge of test planning, execution and evaluation
- Experience in project management
- Confident written and spoken English skills
- Motivation to supervise students in the context of scientific assistance or thesis work
