At the DLR Institute for AI Safety and Security, we research and develop AI-related methods, processes, algorithms, technologies and execution and system environments. Our focus is on safe and standard-compliant AI, cybersecurity in open data and service ecosystems and AI, as well as automation in mobility and logistics.
The AI Engineering department defines and establishes and goal-orientated development processes, methods, and tools for safe and secure AI-based applications. The focus lies on the development and application of safety and security-by-design methods for AI-based components, as well as on the investigation of safe human-AI interaction.
Your tasks
• Support in building virtual environments in Unreal Engine 5 for the generation of synthetic training data
• Support in developing data generation pipelines, including scripted scene variation, domain randomization, and batch rendering
• Support in the automated export of annotations and ground truth data (e.g., bounding boxes, semantic segmentation, depth)
• Support in the integration of simulation frameworks such as AirSim and comparable modern (and internal) tools
• Support in preparing environments for later deployment on physical motion platforms
• Support in scientific publications
Your profile
• Ongoing studies in a STEM field such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, games engineering, or comparable
• Good knowledge of Python
• Basic knowledge of C++ is an advantage
• Experience with Unreal Engine 5 is an advantage
• Interest in machine learning, computer vision, and the safety of AI systems
• Good communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage
