DLR Space Operations and Astronaut Training is the central institution for German spacecraft missions — ranging from satellite missions for Earth observation, communications, and space safety, to human spaceflight, high-altitude research, and exploration. In addition, we at DLR Space Operations and Astronaut Training are developing innovative technologies to ensure we can successfully carry out even the most challenging space missions of the future.

 

What to expect
The Analytics and Flight Dynamics Team is part of the Launch Team in the Department Mobile Rocket Base. We simulate the trajectories of our sounding rockets, analyse flight safety, and conduct studies regarding the feasibility of future projects.
The simulations would not be possible without an internally-developed Python tool. We are constantly expanding the functions of the tool and adjust it to our current and future needs.

 

Your tasks
- Familiarize with existing software
- Bugfixes
- Refactoring
- Feature development
- Work closely with our Flight Dynamics Team
- quality control, unit tests and integration tests

 

Your profile
- Current enrolment in a Master’s program in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Good programming skills in Python
- Knowledge in git, html+css, JavaScript, and Fortran can be beneficial
- fluent in English
- Willingness to (partially) work on site in Oberpfaffenhofen

 

Remuneration depends on qualifications and job assignment up to pay grade 5 TVöD
