The Institute for Low-Carbon Industrial Processes is researching new technologies and methods to reduce green house gas emissions from energy-intensive production processes. Specifically, the institute is developing new technologies for the provision of low-emission process heat through efficient electrification with our innovative high-temperature heat pumps. In addition, we are developing new methods in the field of process simulation for the cost- and efficiency-optimized conversion and operation of future industrial processes.
What to expect
The "Low Carbon Reducing Agents" LCR department focuses on production processes with unavoidable, process-related emissions and researches new processes, such as iron production with regeneratively produced hydrogen. To this end, reactive CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations are combined with experiments on our pilot plant reactors to enable the most accurate possible predictions of reaction mechanisms and reactor operation.
